The 3 day event, February 9th th, th, was geared toward small businesses, either currently active with respect to procurement contracts, or aspiring to establish a relationship with various buying arms of much larger private and public sector companies. The uniqueness of this event involved prescheduled meetings matching small business sellers to corporate and government purchasing departments during the actual event. In addition, an on site re-schedule booth allowed for an aspirant to add one or more of these 1-on-1 meetings to their pre-scheduled meeting slate, predicated on availability and time.
In addition, counselors from the SBA and SBA partnership organizations were available to consult on key small business issues, including access to capital, effective business planning, and other technical and procurement assistance needs. Adrienne Morgan, a first generation born Hispanic American, was born with entrepreneurial blood. Her father, who came to the United States not knowing English and without a high school diploma, has owned and operated a successful paint contracting company for more than 30 years. Morgan received her environmental degree from Boston University and spent seven years working for the Nature Conservancy in Virginia. She and her husband were ready to move back to his hometown of Charles Town, West Virginia to raise their family in the wide-open spaces the land offered with close proximity to the District of Columbia.
This move gave Morgan the opportunity she had dreamed of — to open her own business. In , Morgan and her husband started A-Zone Environmental Services, LLC providing environmental services in site investigation, environmental drilling, and remediation for site re-development services. In , Morgan received her acceptance letter into the program and began her journey of Government Contracting.
Since its inception into the 8 a program, A-Zone has experienced business growth in sales and revenue.

Houston District Office- January This event is targeting small to large businesses buyers and federal, state and local government agencies looking for qualified vendors to provide goods and services, as well as suppliers sellers who can meet the buyers and government agencies purchasing needs. Suppliers must have been in business for at least 2 years to qualify for possible matches.
Matches are not guaranteed. During pre-scheduled, one-on-one, 15 minute sessions, small businesses will have the chance to discuss how they can meet the needs of the participating buyers by providing detailed information of their services and capabilities. This event will match companies based on buyer requirements and supplier capabilities to ensure quality meetings.

Small Business Administration, better known as the SBA, announced Thursday that it is giving such meetings a nudge by hosting three business matchmaking events during National Small Business Week, which takes place June The goal, according to the SBA, is to allow small businesses to have face-to-face meetings with prime contractors and federal agencies to learn about contracting and subcontracting opportunities.
Face-to-face meetings between small business owners, contractors, and federal agencies will last 15 minutes each, and the day will include speed-mentoring, panels on access to capital, government contracting, exporting, supply chain, and the use of social media in addition to the matchmaking event. Last year, approximately businesses and 20 buyers were matched based on compatibility and the buying needs of federal agencies and corporations.
